7th October 2009, Microsoft has officially announced the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5 Worldwide, and a new brand name of 'Windows Phone' was introduced at the event, which covers all phone products that running on windows OS.
GIGA-BYTE Communications Inc. has attended Microsoft launch event in Taipei, Taiwan as one of the major Taiwan based Windows Phone manufacturers; GSmart S1200 was introduced at the event as the first GSmart PDA phone running on Windows Mobile 6.5 professional.
Windows Mobile 6.5 is said to be more finger-friendly, intuitive and easy-to-view, as it abandoned the old-fashion PC like Today screen display, and presenting the list of programs in a simpler and clearer way, which making the operation easier for finger touch and finding programs. Windows Mobile 6.5 also added three novel functions, which are –facebook widget, Microsoft marketplace and MyPhone. Following the trend of community chatting, facebook widget surely is an attractive and nice to have new function for users to access to facebook easier and faster; Microsoft marketplace provides varieties of apps for user download to enrich windows phone user’s life; and MyPhone is a new function that user can backup their data and files in the phone onto Microsoft web server, this can avoid the loss of data when the phone is stolen or missing, furthermore, MyPhone can position the lost phones via GPS, and even can erase data in the lost phone via web server.
While GSmart S1200 was launched in Singapore on 10th September 2009, it was bundled with Windows Mobile 6.1 professional; GSmart S1200 is now upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional from the GSmart website. In this new ROM, GSmart S1200 has added a new user interface which integrated the international famous calligraphy painter- Meng ChaoKuang’s masterpiece. GSmart S1200 not only provides latest OS, but also aims to provide an oriental, origin and eye catching style of mobility life.
